Australian travel visas are required by all tourists to Australia. Unless you hold an Australian passport, you will require a visa of some kind to enter Australia.
Travel visas to Australia are known as ETA visas - or Electronic Travel Authority visas. These are the visas given to tourists and short term travellers to Australia.
ETA visas are:
- electronic; no stamp is ever required or given
- valid for one year (12 months) from the date of issue for travel within Australia for up to 3 months at a time
- are multiple entry
- available to a select list of countries
- required by every member of the family/group travelling to Australia
- come in two forms; tourist and business
- business ETA's are for those attending business meetings and conference
ETA visas are NOT:
- work visas - work of any kind is not permitted
- available to everyone; please check you are on the eligible countries list
- settlement visas; they are valid for 3 months only at a time
